May Day Festival

On May Morning by John Milton

Now the bright morning star, day’s harbinger,
Comes dancing from the east, and leads with her
The flow’ry May, who from her green lap throws
The yellow cowslip and the pale primrose.
Hail, bounteous May, thou dost inspire
Mirth and youth and warm desire!
Woods and groves are of thy dressing,
Hill and dale doth boast thy blessing.
Thus we salute thee with our early song,
And welcome thee, and wish thee long.

Dancing ‘round the May Pole in Celebration of Spring!

On the first Friday in May, Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School celebrates Spring with a fun-filled May Day Festival! On Friday, May 5th the festivities begin with a procession by the children with their May crowns as they flow out of the school building and toward the grassy knolls of our playground. There are musicians, rapper sword dancers and lots of May Pole dancing led by Julee Caspers Agar. May Day royalty is chosen from among our 8th grade students and the afternoon is enjoyed by all through relay races, crafts and the 7th grade plant sale. Members of the community are welcome to join us beginning at 1:30 pm.
